Topical Study of the "Gentiles" Part 7, part b

Note the passage refers to “the servant” in the singular and not “servants”. A servant of the Lord is the subject not servants. The servant will be “exalted”, “extolled” and “very high”. One may think this refers to Christ but Christ’s title is “Most High” not “very high”. The servant approaches the level of His master but has not quite arrived. (The Elias, Elijah, Messiah Template may apply here) Clearly the servant is someone held in very high esteem in the Lord’s eyes. (vs.43) Many are astonished at the servant (and probably the message of the servant as well). His “visage”: (

1: the face, countenance, or appearance of a person or sometimes an animal

2: aspect, appearance visage of a mining town> )

“will be marred more than any man and his form more than the sons of man.” The servant suffers persecution in a similar manner to his Master. (vs.44) He will “sprinkle” many nations; Kings will shut their mouths “at him” for that which had not been told them, shall they see; (Prophecy) and that which they had not heard shall they consider. (vs.45) All these things come according to the commandments of the Father. Then will the covenant the Father has made with Israel be fulfilled and Jerusalem inhabited with the Lord’s people to claim the land of their inheritance. (vs.46) This concludes the “Macro-view” of this prophecy.
